The brother of Tongyi Qianwen, “Tongyi Wanxiang”, has also been exposed recently. On July 7, at the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai, Alibaba Cloud announced that Tongyi Wanxiang, a large model of AI painting creation, started directional invitation testing. According to Ali, “synonymous with Vientiane” allows users to input Chinese and English descriptions, and this artificial intelligence tool can generate different styles of images, such as sketches or 3D cartoons. This model can assist human beings to create pictures, and can be applied to application scenarios such as art design, e-commerce, games and cultural creation in the future.
In addition, Ali said that the model can transform any image into a new image with similar style, and stylize the image through style transfer, that is, keep the content of the original image while applying the visual style of another image.
Zhou Jingren, chief technology officer of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said: “Tongyi Wanxiang is another important milestone in our pursuit of advanced generative artificial intelligence model. We will continue to explore technologies to change the model so that enterprises and communities can release greater creativity and productivity.” He pointed out that with the introduction of Tongyi Wanxiang, “high-quality artificial intelligence images will become easier to obtain, which will help to develop innovative artificial intelligence art and creative expression for enterprises in all walks of life”.
Alibaba said that the tool can also strike a balance between composition accuracy and detail sharpness, while improving the ability to generate high-contrast images with clean backgrounds.
The tool was developed by Alibaba Cloud, and is currently being tested by consumers in China. It is reported that “Tongyi Vientiane” has received more than 300,000 requests for use. However, there are competitors such as the DALL-E tool of OpenAI.
